FAQ

If you have a question that is not answered here, please e-mail sally@thehometailor.co.uk

I have seen some fabric, can you get it for me?

Yes, I can source fabrics from most trade suppliers and am happy to work with fabric which you already have however I will have to check the measurements to make sure you have enough.

Will you fit the curtains for me?

Yes, we always prefer to fit the curtains for you, this way we can be sure that they are looking their best and that you are totally happy. If you are going to use your existing curtain poles I will base my measurements on them however if you are going to have new ones I will need to check the measurements after the poles are fitted.

Which poles or fixings do I need?

We can supply and fit curtain poles or rails for you if necessary (see the ‘shop’ section of the website) and I will discuss your requirements with you when we meet.

I don’t know what I want.

Don’t worry, I can come and see you and discuss your options. I will bring my portfolio and some magazines with me so that I can really understand your style and I will base my suggestions on our chat. I will then suggest some fabrics and give you a quotation.

What do you do other than curtains?

Roman blinds

Roller blinds

Bed spreads

Headboards

Cushions

Pelmets and valances

Table runners

Dining chair cushions

Sofa throws

Upholstery

… anything really.

I’m decorating my home, what else can you help me with?

We have collaborations with a group of local businesses who would be able to help you with your renovation project.

What are your payment terms?

I accept cash, cheque (payable to The Home Tailor) and credit card via Pay Pal. I require 50% of the total project value to be paid with order and the remaining 50% on fitting or delivery. My quote will always include VAT at the current rate.

Are your curtains fire proofed?

Fabrics which are going to be used in public places such as restaurants are required to conform to British Standard fire ratings, fabrics in a private home do not. Almost all fabrics can be made fire proof to BSS ratings however most commercially available fabrics are not fire proof when you buy them. I can arrange to have them treated and I can source fire proof linings. The process of fire proofing fabric causes a small amount of shrinkage so care has to be taken to ensure that there is enough fabric for the project once the shrinkage has happened.

I have moved house, can I re-use my old curtains?

If you have some curtains that you really love that you would like to have altered I will need to see the curtains and discuss what you are trying to achieve. Most curtains can be altered to make them smaller or extended with panels of complementary fabric.

Do you have insurance?
